What does Fretso actually do?
It runs the whole shop off one system. Bookings, the till, grooming tickets, kennel runs, vet notes, invoices, reminders, staff rotas and your numbers. The point is that they all share the same customer and the same pet, so nothing gets typed twice and nothing gets lost between systems.
Who is it for?
Pet shops, grooming salons, boarding kennels, daycares, vet clinics, and the places that do several of those at once. If you run one chair or twenty runs, it fits, because you switch on only the parts you use.
Do I need all of it, or can I start small?
Start with what's on fire. Most people begin with bookings and the till, then add boarding or the vet room later. Your customers and pets carry over when you do, so there's no second migration.
Which countries does it work in, and what about tax?
We sell worldwide. Tax is template-driven, so you set your rates once and every invoice picks them up. India gets full GST with HSN codes and the correct CGST, SGST and IGST splits. Elsewhere you set up VAT or sales tax the same way. Currency, date format and language come with it.
Can I run more than one shop on it?
Yes, and it's built for it rather than bolted on. Each branch keeps its own stock, staff, runs and takings. Your managers only see their own branch. You see all of them, together or one at a time.
Do my customers have to download an app?
No. They open a link on their phone and they're in. Their pets, the vaccination card with next-due dates, their invoices, and a button to book or pay. Nothing to install, nothing to update, nothing for them to delete when their phone runs out of space.
How do payments work?
Razorpay and Stripe plug in with your own keys, so money lands in your account, not ours. At the counter you can take cash, card, UPI, a prepaid balance, or split a bill across them. Send an invoice link and the payment posts itself against the invoice when it clears.
What happens with vaccinations and reminders?
You set the protocol once per species. Record a jab and the next-due date works itself out. When it comes round it shows on your dashboard, it's on the customer's card in the portal, and it can go out as a WhatsApp, SMS or email without you touching it. That's the bit that pays for the software.
Will it stop an unvaccinated dog coming into boarding?
It warns you at check-in, before the dog is in the building. It also refuses to put two dogs in the same run on the same night. Those are the two mistakes that cost real money, so they're handled in the software rather than left to whoever's on the desk.
How is commission worked out?
You set the rule once, as a percentage or a flat amount, per service or per person. When the job is invoiced the commission lands in that person's ledger. At payroll you read a report. No more arguing about how many dogs someone did in March.
What's it built on?
The Frappe framework and ERPNext, both open source. That matters for a boring but important reason: your accounting and stock are real, mature modules that other businesses have hammered for years, not something we approximated. It also means your data is exportable and you're not trapped.
What does it cost?
Depends on how much of it you switch on, how many branches you run, and how many people need a login. A one-chair salon and a six-branch resort shouldn't pay the same, so we quote per business after a demo, itemised so you can see what you're paying for.
Can you move my existing data across?
Yes. Customers, pets, products, suppliers and stock come over during setup. You go live with your real history, not an empty screen and a shrug.
How long until we’re running on it?
Most single-site businesses are live inside two weeks, and a lot of that is you deciding on services and prices. Multi-branch takes longer because there's more to set up and more people to train.
